This policy applies specifically to True Decibel for Android, provided by Suzhou Zhiqiao Information Technology Co., Ltd. The Android application ID is com.noisecheck.soundmeter.dbmeter. It describes this product’s data handling; other apps and platform editions have their own policies.
1. Measurements, recordings and imported audio
True Decibel processes microphone input on your device to calculate sound levels and to make local recordings when recording is enabled. Microphone samples are not uploaded to our servers. Imported audio is analyzed locally. Saved sessions can contain sound statistics, audio, labels, notes and measurement settings.
If you enable location tagging and grant permission, the app requests approximate location to attach a place label or coordinates to a measurement or report. The tag stays with the local session unless you export, share or back it up. We do not use saved location tags for advertising targeting; advertising providers may separately estimate general location from an IP address.
2. Reports, photos and local exports
Photos used for sound-level labels are processed locally. A ZIP backup can include sessions, statistics, labels, notes, location tags and saved or imported audio. Sharing audio, a report, photo, PDF, CSV or backup gives the selected content to the Android destination you choose. Its recipient controls the resulting copy.
3. Optional Google Drive connection
If you explicitly start a Google Drive backup, True Decibel uploads the backup archive over an encrypted connection to your own Google Drive. It does not use an intermediate backup server. The archive itself is not end-to-end encrypted by True Decibel.
Google authorization is used for this feature. The app uses the hidden application-data area of your own Google Drive, rather than requesting access to all your Drive files. Authorization credentials allow the requested transfer. We do not use Google user data for advertising.
Our use and transfer of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. You can revoke access through Google Account connections. Cloud copies must be removed separately through the app’s available backup controls or Google Drive’s app-management controls; revoking access or uninstalling does not delete them.
4. Diagnostics, advertising and purchases
Firebase Analytics processes app interactions and technical information to help us understand use of this product. Firebase Crashlytics processes crash reports, installation identifiers and app/device information to diagnose failures. See Firebase privacy information.
The ad-supported edition uses Google Mobile Ads and mediation partners including Meta and InMobi. Advertising services may process IP-derived general location, identifiers, interactions and diagnostics for ads, measurement and fraud prevention. Where applicable, the app provides Google consent and advertising privacy choices. Android’s advertising settings also let you manage the advertising identifier. Advertising choices do not by themselves delete app content or control every diagnostic service.
Google Play Billing handles purchases and subscriptions. The app processes purchase status and tokens to activate, verify or restore paid access. Google handles payment details; we do not receive raw payment-card details. See the Google Privacy Policy.
5. Retention and deletion
You can delete saved sessions and their audio attachments in True Decibel. Local deletion does not erase exported reports, shared files or Drive backups. Remove those copies at the destination or through Google Drive’s app-management controls. True Decibel does not create a separate developer-managed user account.
Custom analytics events do not include audio, note text, saved place names, coordinates or file names. Technical diagnostics and data processed by Google Play or ad providers follow the applicable service’s retention and deletion processes.
6. Your choices, security and privacy rights
You can manage device permissions in system settings and choose which optional connections or exports to use. A denied permission may make its related feature unavailable. Data sent to service providers may be processed outside your country. We use reasonable safeguards for information we control; no storage or transmission method can guarantee absolute security.
We do not sell your personal information. We disclose information as needed to provide the features above, follow your instructions, comply with law, protect rights or handle a business transfer with appropriate safeguards. Information we control is kept only for the purposes described here and applicable legal obligations. Provider-controlled records follow that provider’s retention and deletion processes.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or receive a copy of your personal information. Contact us for requests about data we control. We cannot directly remove files in your personal cloud account or copies held by a recipient.
7. Children and policy updates
This product is not directed to children under 13, or the minimum age required by local law. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us so we can address it. We may update this policy as the product changes and will show the revised date on this page.
